Ban Khrua Silk Twill Scarf - Red

$181.00

Ban Krua is a Cham Muslim community that migrated from the Champa Kingdom, originally located in the territories of Vietnam and Cambodia. During the Nine Armies War, they participated in the war as the Cham Volunteer Corps. Later, they received land from King Rama I to establish their households in the Thung Phaya Thai bamboo forest Pathumwan-Ratchathewi area along the Saen Saeb canal. The Islamic Cham community is renowned for their exceptional silk weaving skills. Initially, they used their woven fabric mainly for their own households, but later, they began creating special patterns to present to the royal court of Siam. The turning point for the Ban Krua community and the Thai silk industry occurred after World War II, when Mr. James H. W. Thompson, a former CIA agent known as the “King of Thai Silk,” became the pioneer of the Thai silk industry, gaining global fame under the brand name Jim Thompson. In the early years of the company, the Ban Krua community was the primary source of the brand’s silk production. The item in question is 100% silk with dimensions of W33” x H33”, and it features hand-stitched trimming.
